The mission of St. Matthew Cathedral School Young Vincentians is the same as the adult "Vincentians": they work to help the poor and the lonely. The Young Vincentians do projects like participating in the St. Vincent de Paul blanket drive, Eric's Promise, and the Community Walk for the Homeless. They work closely with the adult "Vincentians" to keep the St. Matthew food pantry well-stocked and clean. They make small gifts for the shut-ins and accompany food deliveries throughout the year. One winter they made warm blankets for the poor and the shut-ins. They help out at the Thrift Store and some older members try to help out at soup kitchens. The goal of this group is to instill the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul in young people. They want to see Jesus in the poor and help whenever they can. There are currently 30 5th through 8th graders and 35 3rd and 4th graders serving others as Young Vincentians. If you have any questions, call the school at 289-4535 and ask for Pam VanHuffel, the moderator.
We encourage each classroom to bring in different food items in order to keep the pantry supplied with all of the basic food items needed. If you would like to give an item that is not on your class list, feel free to do so. Any donation is more than welcome! Try to avoid items that are outdated, open, or severely dented, as we cannot give out those items. Thank you and God bless you!

This program is an effort to teach our students STEWARDSHIP at a young age. We encourage students to support this program with the help of their familes. Shopping together helps your children see charity in action.
With sincere appreciation,
The Young Vincentians
