Principal's Letter

May 20, 2010

Dear Parents,

I would be remiss if I didn't express my gratitude to those of you who give extra time in helping make St. Matthew Cathedral School so wonderful. I thank the School Board members for their support and advice in making difficult decisions. A special thank you to Anita Hunckler and Bob Kloska who are leaving the school board this year, we welcome Lisa Macheca and James Riley; our newly elected school board members.

HASA does so many wonderful things for us. I can't thank these fine people enough for all of the extra activities and financial assistance. They do the breakfasts, the receptions, the class parties, Market Day, Fun Fair, cafeteria duties, and so much more. Thank you Pat Gring for being president and seeing that everything gets done on time. Actually, you parents are HASA and you are most generous whenever anything is asked of you. You went overboard for teacher appreciation week and the lunch days. Thank you so much.

Athletic Board and all coaches are to be thanked for their time on and off the field. A special note of gratitude to Miss Roney who moderates the activities, as well as Mark Adey who has very generously given his time. We are so grateful for his guidance.

I thank all of you who show up for cafeteria duty. This happens to be an area where we need the most help and we have a difficult time getting it. I am most grateful to our faithful volunteers who show up weekly, and to Donna and Mary Horvath. We need someone to co-ordinate this for next year. Please call and let Melissa know if you would be willing to take this job.

I thank Margy Kloska, Cathy Blum and Elizabeth Adey for all of their help with the Scrip Program.

I am grateful to Msgr. Mike and Father Jake for their support and interest in the school.

I am especially grateful to all of the faculty and staff who are dedicated to helping the students of this school become the best that they can be. They deserve all of our thanks.

We will require students to read three books again this summer. The reading list will be included with the report card.

I pray that you all have a safe summer.

Sincerely,

Mary Anne Retseck,
Principal
